Meet Tiffany

Name: Tiffany

Company:

WaterBrook Mutlnomah Publisching Group
Title: Director of Marketing
Location: Colorado Springs, CO

Describe your educational background. Where did you study, what degrees did you receive?
I received my BS in Journalism from the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk Jayhawk). My focus was in business communications.

Describe your career history. What have been your professional experiences prior to your current position?
After a very brief stint in sports marketing, I landed in the music business in Nashville, TN. I started in Christian music and held marketing and creative roles for 5 years. I then transitioned to a Bertelsmann-owned company, RCA Nashville. I worked there for two years prior to landing in publishing. I’ve been with Multnomah since August of 2002 and have recently made the move to Colorado since Random House’s acquisition of the company.

What are your current roles and responsibilities?
I oversee all marketing aspects for the Multnomah Books products. This includes print, radio and online marketing. I have a great team who helps execute the plans and I certainly couldn’t do my job without them!

Describe a typical day at your job: You’re kidding, right?
There is nothing “typical” in the day of a marketer! How about today: finalizing marketing plans, finalizing key marketing pieces for a Next Gen conference coming up, cover critique meeting, budget meeting, more meetings! We’ll see what tomorrow holds…

What attracted you to your company and position? What is your favorite thing about your job?
I like knowing that I’m a part of something bigger than myself and helping to promote positive and encouraging messages to those seeking hope. Another great thing about my job is jeans day on Friday!

What has been your most memorable moment (so far) in your job?
An evening with an author and his father and a few co-workers. It was authentic. It was intimate. It was truth. I walked away from that night understanding even more why I do what I do. (and the food was darn good, too!)

If you could meet anyone from history, living or dead, who would it be?
Old Yeller. Seriously…the list would be too long. There are so many people who have made a significant contribution to our society – be it spiritually, politically, economically. I would want to have a forum with numerous people rather than one-on-one time.

If I were a cartoon character, I would be…
Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes.

What qualities do you feel are necessary to be a successful employee at your company?
Integrity. Strong work-ethic. Compassion.

Have you had the opportunity to travel as part of your job?
I do travel some for my job. I have not traveled internationally for work, just stateside. I’ve visited in the last few years: Atlanta, San Diego, Nashville, Indianapolis, Anaheim, Orlando, and Denver.

My favorite book, movie and artist are…
Book: To Kill a Mockingbird
Movie: The Man from Snowy River
Music Artist: Jem (though this can change by the moment!)
